NASA joins ISRO to track Vikram 'calling home'

Another astronomer Scott Tilley also confirmed that Nasa's DSN station in California had beamed the radio frequency to the lander.

Everything seemed to be going splendidly for India's space agency last week as excitement was building for the anticipated touchdown of the Chandrayaan-2 lunar lander. "All possible efforts are being made to establish communication with lander", the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) had tweeted.

The ISRO is trying to establish the link with Vikram with its Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN) at Byalalu near Bengaluru. The three stations are located 120 degrees apart on Earth with an aim to ensure that any satellite in deep space is able to communicate with at least one station at all times. Each site has a minimum of four antennae, from 25 metre to 70 metre in diameter.

Sivan said, 'We've got the image of Vikram on the lunar surface from our orbiter. He concluded that Chandrayaan-2 is done with 100% success for orbiter science and 95% success for landing technology. Unfortunately, the Vikram lander lost control while trying to attempt a soft landing on the lunar surface and ended up crash-landing with a communication loss. Years and years of planning had put India in the flawless position to claim a spot on the short list of countries to achieve a soft landing on the Moon, but that all changed just moments before the spacecraft was destined to land.

LeBron's 'Taco Tuesday' trademark filing denied
If you follow LeBron James on social media, then you'd know that Tuesday is a great day in his household as it marks Taco Tuesday. The denial comes mostly on the premise that "Taco Tuesday", is a "commonplace message" that can not be trademarked.

How much time does ISRO have to track Vikram Lander?

A day later, reports quoting an unnamed ISRO official said that the hard-landing was "very close to the planned (touch-down) site as per the images sent by the on-board camera of the orbiter". "It is in a tilted position", the official associated with the mission claimed. US President Donald Trump wants Nasa to use the services of private space companies like Elon Musk's SpaceX and Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin to make the manned mission to Moon a reality again, over 50 years after the famous Apollo-11 mission that helped the US make history by becoming the first country in the world to land on Moon.

Why will the lander survive only 14 days? After September 21, Moon will enter the lunar night. The lander is not created to withstand a temperature that low.
