Slow-moving Hurricane Dorian heads toward southeast U.S.

According to the 2 p.m. advisory for September 1, Hurricane Dorian was located at 26.5 N and 77.1 W, NOAA reported.

As of 5 p.m., Dorian had top winds of 185 miles per hour. "Dorian will slow to a crawl and may not emerge from the Bahamas until sometime Tuesday when it begins to move more to the north". The storm is predicted to ride along the Florida, Georgia and Carolina coasts, according to meteorologists.

The storm made landfall on the southern end of Elbow Cay, which runs along the east coast of Great Abaco, early Sunday afternoon.

The storm also battered Grand Bahama island with high winds and torrential rainfall. Here are videos shared by people in the Bahamas showing the storm's arrival. Residents should listen to advice given by local emergency officials.

But as sites become full, there is concern that people will be forced to take refuge in other places that aren't listed to receive food and water from the government.

"It's devastating", Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation Director General Joy Jibrilu told AP.

Last October, Hurricane Michael, which was originally designated as a Category 4, barreled into the Florida Panhandle as the third Category 5 hurricane to blast the U.S. since Trump.

Dorian is expected to continue to move over Grand Bahama Island on Monday. On this track, the core of extremely risky Hurricane Dorian will continue to pound Great Abaco today and the move near or over Grand Bahama Island tonight and Monday.

When the Category 5 hurricane made landfall on Great Abaco Island, east of Miami, on Sunday at 2 p.m., Dorian's maximum sustained winds were 185 miles per hour - an Atlantic hurricane record matched only by a storm that struck the Florida Keys in 1935, the National Hurricane Center said.

Kevin Hart suffers 'major back injuries' in Malibu Hills vehicle crash
A witness claimed that Hart got out of the vehicle first, where a member of his security team picked him up in an SUV. But if he did suffer a major back injury, that could certainly affect his film and promotion work.

Dorian had been spiraling wind speeds as fast as 185 miles per hour, with devastating gusts over 220 miles per hour, the National Hurricane Center warned Sunday.

Boats moored in Sandyport, Nassau, Bahamas, as Hurricane Dorian approached.

In some parts of Abaco, "you can not tell the difference as to the beginning of the street versus where the ocean begins", Bahamas Prime Minister Hubert Minnis told AP. All tourists were asked to leave those areas.

The remnants of the offshore hurricane could still pose risks, like rip currents, high seas and gusty winds, Carr said, noting, "depending on how close it gets to us".

President Donald Trump has cancelled a planned trip to Poland and met emergency management officials. But exactly where (or if) it will hit the US East Coast remains unclear.

Utility workers and the National Guard are also moving into place to respond to Dorian's potential destruction.

In Florida, at least seven counties issued mandatory evacuations for some residents, including those in mobile homes, on barrier islands and in low-lying areas.

As Dorian crawled towards the USA, shoppers were seen queuing to buy supplies such as medication and fuel.

Pete Werner said he is riding out the storm at home in Orlando but is sending his mother to Walt Disney World.
