Wild forward Kevin Fiala signs two-year, $6 million deal

The Minnesota Wild have re-signed left wing Kevin Fiala to a two-year, $6 million contract.

The 23-year-old forward was a restricted free agent. He had 39 points (13 goals, 26 assists) in 83 games with the Wild and Nashville Predators last season, including seven points (three goals, four assists) in 19 games after he was traded to Minnesota for forward Mikael Granlund on February 25. Then general manager, Paul Fenton, labeled Fiala as a gamebreaker. Fiala totaled 13 goals and 26 assists in 2018-19, in 64 games with the Predators and 19 games with the Wild.

In 223 National Hockey League games, Fiala has 48 goals. It was imperative that Fiala not miss camp has he gears up for what could be his coming out party. We want to get him in here and get him going.

Ranking the Wild this high might just be my model's hottest take, one that I can see the argument for though still question myself. Though the Wild may not be this good, I really don't think they're half as bad as they're now made out to be and a playoff berth wouldn't be all that surprising. If he does that the Wild will have a good shot of getting back into the postseason.
