BMW M8 Gran Coupe revealed with Competition and First Edition trims

Is it the fastest of its kind

You knew it was coming. The M8 Gran Coupe gets 20-inch M light-alloy wheels as standard, while the M8 Gran Coupe Competition switches them to 20-inch forged M light-alloy with a gloss-milled 3D structure and bicolor design.

The new 2020 BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe has been unveiled today, joining its Coupe and Convertible siblings to round out the new M8 family. On Tuesday, BMW revealed the more practical performance machine that's related to the two-doors: the 2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe. This setup enables the M8 Gran Coupe to rocket from 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 km/h) in 3.3 seconds, before hitting a limited top speed of up to 190 miles per hour (305 km/h) when equipped with the optional M Driver's Package. The front brakes are larger at 15.75 inches, too. BMW's carbon fibre roof reduces the centre of gravity.

For a more exclusive look, customers can order an optional M Carbon exterior package. Based on the Competition model, the First Edition cars will be finished in Individual Diamant Green Metallic, a color exclusive to this limited edition model.

Under the hood sits a 4.4-litre V8 engine.

The 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 now makes 617PS, an increase of 17PS over the standard vehicle while the torque figure remains unchanged at 750Nm.

The engine is connected to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission which sends power to a rear-biased and defeatable all-wheel drive system. Thanks to the extra power, the dash to 62 miles per hour (100 km/h) is cut to 3.2 seconds. Top speed, when the M5 is equipped with the optional M Driver's Package, is 305 kmph.

Effects Of Global Economic Slowdown "More Pronounced" In India
The global economy is now in a synchronized slowdown. "Global trade growth has come to a near standstill", she said. The situation is a stark contrast from two years ago, before the U.S.

A sports exhaust system is fitted with electronically controlled flaps to amplify the V8 engine's noise. A button, the M Sound Control button, allows the driver to soften the exhaust note. However, if you're genuinely ballin', you can opt for the BMW M carbon-ceramic brakes.

Like all modern Bimmers, the M8 Gran Coupe comes with a fairly comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), only some of which are standard equipment.

In June, execs touted the 2020 M8's prowess around the Nürburgring-Nordschliefe in coupe and convertible four. The modifications also include a new steel x-brace and an aluminium transverse strutt. The 840i and the all-wheel-drive 840i xDrive Gran Coupe use a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, making 335 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque. It is described as offering a "linear build-up of transverse loads" and "neutral steering behaviour". Competition models add even firmer suspension settings, stiffer motor mounts, a more aggressive alignment, and metal joints instead of rubber bushings in the rear suspension to accommodate higher-cornering loads. Oh, and you can ratchet everything up another notch with the BMW M8 Competition models. Automatic boot lid operation and a BMW Display Key are also standard equipment. There's also M-specific readouts on the instrument cluster, main display and head-up display.

BMW also offers the Driving Assistance Professional Package, which includes active cruise control with stop & go, lane keeping assistance with active side collision avoidance, and extended traffic jam assistance for limited access highways.

The clearest competition is the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe.
