EA accidentally leaks the personal information of thousands of Federation Internationale de Football Association 20 players

The registration link provided by EA for the Federation Internationale de Football Association 20 Global Series openly displayed the personal information of other players who had registered earlier such as their name, date of birth, and email address among others.

The registration process for the series opened up October 3rd, and had interested parties eagerly filling out the forms they needed to see them entered into the competition with a chance to be a FUT Champions verified competitor.

Sounds simple enough right?

Fans signing up for the new Federation Internationale de Football Association 20 Global Series found the online registration form was already filled in with other people's information. There was already information on the screen.

USA unemployment rate falls to 3.5%, job growth steady
Friday's jobs data underscored the benefits of a hot job market for lower-paid Americans and traditionally disadvantaged workers. The monthly report also showed wage growth was unchanged, and manufacturing payrolls declined for the first time in six months.

At the point where players registering were asked to confirm their details, they were shown a screen displaying the personal details, including email address and date of birth, of a different player.

EA say they shut down the registration at 1:30pm as soon as the issue came to light, and took action to fix the error as soon as they could. They closed down the application page and after looking for the source of the error, posted on Twitter that they're confident they've fixed the problem. EA says it's in the process of getting in touch with players who have been affected by the leak. EA has taken cognisance of the issue and has since taken down the registration link. At any rate, EA will alert players once it's back up.

Popular online gaming live-streamers were among those who had their details exposed.
