Josh Hamilton, the Tampa Bay Rays first overall pick in the 1999 Major League Baseball draft, was arrested for injury to a child, police say.

Josh Hamilton was arrested on Wednesday on a third-degree felony charge of injury to a child, according to Dallas News.

According to an affidavit by a Keller Police Department detective, Hamilton's daughter told police that he went on a rampage September 30.

The girl allegedly made a comment to him that upset him, and he allegedly threw a full water bottle at her which hit her in the chest and caused her pain.

"Hamilton then picked up the girl, threw her over his shoulder and carried her to her bedroom as she yelled that she was sorry, the document says".

Chile withdraws from hosting summits after protests
Some 7,000 people have been arrested and at least 18 deaths have been reported , with dozens more maimed in clashes with police. The protests have left 20 dead and hundreds injured and have damaged businesses and infrastructure around Chile.

Hamilton's ex-wife Katie had sought a protective order earlier in October on behalf of one of the couple's children, according to family-court records.

He told her, "I hope you go in front of the f*** judge and tell him what a awful dad I am so I dont have to see you anymore and you dont ever have to come to my house again".

Hamilton released a statement via his attorney later in the day.

Hamilton turned himself in to authorities during the afternoon at the Tarrant County Courthouse in Fort Worth, Texas, per CBS 11.

The bond conditions also stipulated the former Texas Ranger not have any contact with his three daughters, nor any child under the age of 17.
