He wrote on Twitter: "My flight from London City airport to Dublin has just been grounded by a climate change protestor".

London City Airport was braced for disruption on Thursday after climate-change protesters Extinction Rebellion vowed to occupy its terminal and shut down operations for three days as part of its action in the British capital.

Extra security and policing have been put in place at the United Kingdom airport after the group threatened it would attempt a major disruption, with its members "lying, sitting or glueing-on in front of the departure and arrivals gates" in a desperate bid to block entry to travelers.

The neighborhood acknowledged hundreds of people have already signed as much as resolve part in the train, which will seem them "non-violently use their our bodies" to close the airport. The airport's website says it has started an $873 million project to quadruple the size of its only terminal, AFP reported.

The busy transportation hub is the capital of the fifth-largest airport, popular with business travelers, bankers and politicians for short-haul and regional routes.

"The flight departed at 11.16am and is scheduled to arrive in Dublin at 12.37pm".

London City Airport is working with police as it braces for the protests.

"Our shared priority is the safe operation of the airport and to minimise disruption for passengers using the airport over the coming days", an airport spokesman said.

Activists are attempting a three-day "Hong Kong-style occupation of the terminal building" to highlight what they claim is the "incompatibility" of the east London airport's planned £2bn expansion with meeting the government's legally-binding commitment to go net carbon neutral by 2050.

Extinction Rebellion protesters in London have been inspired by the fiery protests held at Hong Kong's worldwide airport during pro-democracy demonstrations there.

London police have made hundreds of arrests as the protesters, labelled "unco-operative crusties" by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, began two weeks of civil disobedience.
