The FBI has confirmed that a senior citizen who has murdered at least 50 people is the most prolific serial killer in USA history - and the law enforcement agency is turning to the public for help identifying more victims.

Samuel Little, 79, confessed to strangling 93 victims between 1970 and 2005 past year - triple the number of victims that Ted Bundy confessed to killing.

"Many of his victims´ deaths, however, were originally ruled overdoses or attributed to accidental or undetermined causes. Some bodies were never found", the Federal Bureau of Investigation wrote on the website.

The FBI is asking for the public's help in matching the remaining unconfirmed confessions.

If the number of killings Little claims to have committed proves true, it would make him one of the most prolific killers in U.S. history.

"For many years, Samuel Little believed he would not be caught because he thought no one was accounting for his victims", said ViCAP Crime Analyst Christie Palazzolo.

The FBI's confirmation means that Little has officially surpassed "Green River Killer" Gary Ridgway, who terrorized the Pacific Northwest and killed 49 people.

Notorious killers such as John Wayne Gacy and Ted Bundy were convicted of killing around 30 people each but were both suspected of more.

UAW And GM Negotiations Take A "Turn For The Worse"
GM ended production of the Chevy Cruze in Lordstown in March, and the Detroit-Hamtramck plant is set to close in January. It also led to layoffs at numerous 10,000 American suppliers that provide auto parts and other goods and services to GM.

Little targeted women, often of marginalised and vulnerable groups, many who were involved in prostitution or suffering from drug addiction. Numerous deaths weren't investigated.

Investigators also provided new information and details about cases in Florida, Kentucky, Nevada and Louisiana.

The statement included more information coming from Little himself in a taped interview detailing the still unmatched murder in Little Rock he said took place between 1992 and 1994.

Little was arrested in 2012 and extracted to California to face a narcotics charge, but while there, the Los Angeles Police Department obtained his DNA and linked him to three unsolved homicides from 1987 and 1989, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in a release.

During his 2014 trial for the 1980s murder of three women in Los Angeles, prosecutors said Little was likely responsible for at least 40 killings since 1980.

The FBI has used this strategy before, releasing 16 victim portraits Little drew in February.
