Elena Delle Donne played through pain to help carry the Mystics to their first championship

Delle Donne was dominant all season long for the Mystics, as she bagged MVP honors (her second) following a tremendous year for her squad.

Washington and CT were the league's two best teams all season and it was fitting that the two met in this year's Finals. The Belgian native sat out last season and watched as Washington was swept by Seattle in the Finals. Coach Mike Thibault embraced his son, Mystics associate head coach Eric Thibault, and then found his wife, Nancy, who had spent most of the game letting the refs know what she thought about their incessant whistles.

Jonquel Jones tallied 25 points and nine rebounds for the Sun, who were appearing in their first WNBA Finals in 14 years.

Meesseman, who missed last year's Finals, was dubbed the "missing piece" by her team-mates. "I was going to do whatever I could to help my team win a championship".

With Finals averages of 17.8 points and 4.6 rebounds on 57.1% shooting from the field, she was named WNBA Finals MVP, becoming the first reserve player in league history to be given the award.

Some of the most noteworthy names from the Los Angeles Lakers camp were one of the first to congratulate Elena Delle Donne and the Washington Mystics for their recent success in the WNBA. "Every single person deserves this".

Delle Donne and the Mystics definitely ended the most recent WNBA season on a high note.

"A lot of people questioned why I went to a team that hadn't been to the playoffs in a while", Delle Donne said. "This feels really good to get this for him". With the Mystics in the championship, they made them the priority and placed their loss above the Nats Wild Card win.
