President Donald Trump has signed a proclamation requiring immigrants to show they can afford health care before they can be granted visas. "That means that people from Poland can easily travel there, and people from here can easily go back and forth", Trump said at the White House.

"If Poland is designated as a Visa Waiver Program country, its nationals would be authorized for visa-free travel to the United States for business and tourism", the press secretary said.

Under the waiver program, citizens of participating countries are able to travel to the United States for up to 90 days without obtaining a USA visa.

But the nomination alone doesn't guarantee that Poland will be accepted into the program.

FOX News contributor and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy says it's legal for the president to call on other countries to investigate corruption but also points out President Trump is vulnerable to the argument that the call to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was done for political purposes.

The Trump administration said last month that it planned to allow only 18,000 refugees to resettle in the United States in the 2020 fiscal year, the lowest number in the history of the modern refugee program.

"People from the U.S., people from Poland can easily go back and forth between the United States and Poland".

Poland had been one of just five European Union members whose citizens needed visas to travel to the U.S, which has always been seen as a thorn in otherwise cordial bilateral relations.

Poland and the USA have brokered an increased partnership on defense matters in recent months, with the us agreeing to send additional troops to the country and Poland purchasing USA military equipment.
