Walker assessed 58 penalty strokes over two days at Senior LPGA Championship

Lee Ann Walker learned the hard way about a new rule regarding caddies

Walker shot rounds of 85 and 74 at the Senior LPGA Championship at French Lick Resort in Indiana.

After she completed the second round, LPGA rules official Marty Robinson said they had her recreate the times that her caddie lined her up. She was penalized 16 more strokes on the second round, ending with a 90 instead of a 74.

"This may be my claim to fame", said Walker, a 47-year-old who works in real estate in Southport, North Carolina.

Will she come back to French Lick? And it would allow her to catch up with friends.

Walker missed the cut in the three-round tournament on the Legends Tour.

The entire thing is incredible, and maybe most unbelievable to me is that none of her playing partners on the first day informed her of the new rule. I knew there were rules changes.

She played the first round with Jackie Gallagher-Smith and Cathy Johnston-Forbes and said neither noticed her mistake.

Trent Alexander-Arnold enters Guinness Book of World Records
Otherwise, Alexander-Arnold may expect to remain in the record books for quite some time. That is the Guiness World Record total by a defender in a single season.

"They made me aware of it on 14 or 15, and I called a rules official to ask what to do", Walker said. "Now that I don't play the LPGA anymore, I don't watch golf".

Most wonderful about this weird episode is that Walker could remember which holes and how many times her caddie was behind her without her starting the process over.

"What can you do at that point?" "Obviously, it's my fault for not knowing the rules, but what am I going to do?" I don't have anyone to blame but myself.

It goes in the books as a 127 in the first round - with a birdie on her last hole.

An exception to Rule 3.3b (3) states that: "If one or more of the player's hole scores are lower than the actual scores because he or she excluded one or more penalty strokes that the player didn't know about before returning the scorecard: The player is not disqualified".

That gave her a halfway total of 217, or 73-over-par, and left her adrift at the bottom of the pile by 39 strokes. "I was just like, that's going to add a ton to my scores". "Everything was great except for my penalties". The scorecard from the first round featured six 9s, an 8 and four 7s.

"I'm glad I went".
