The younger Inoue controlled the action for most of the fight and certainly, poured it on in the final rounds to capture an easy victory.

The Donaire-Inoue showdown will be the finals for the World Boxing Super Series, a tournament that features the world's finest 118-pounders.

What followed for the last three rounds was Inoue not only taking control of the fight, but also scoring his first knockdown of the fight.

But Donaire, a four-division champion who turns 37 on November 16 is undaunted.

Donaire who has one of the best left hooks in the business draws inspiration from Pacquiao's performance and will bring his all to overcome the odds in Japan against the undefeated hometown favorite who is also ten years younger than him. Donaire then staggered Naoya Inoue with a big left hand in the ninth round, but Inoue smartly used his head movement to avoid any further trouble.

Adam Smith, director of Sky Sports Boxing, said: "We are very excited that the final of the Naoya Inoue World Super Boxing Series with Nonito Donaire will be live at Sky Sports, in another fantastic addition to our incredible live calendar". He had previously won his semifinal fight by second round KO over Emmanuel Rodriguez in Scotland in May.

As for Inoue's own future, he'll likely be heading stateside as he has reportedly signed a multi-fight deal with Top Rank Boxing and is expected to fight in the United States in 2020.
