Jim Jordan Appointed to House Intel Panel to Fight Impeachment

Trump hits out at ‘deranged’ impeachment inquiry

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff on Thursday released a tightened set of guidelines over what potential witnesses can be called in the impeachment hearings, saying Republicans must justify their relevance according to a three-point criteria.

In a letter to Devin Nunes, the Republican ranking member of the Democratic-controlled House panel, Schiff said the first in a series of open hearings will be held on November 13 at 10:00 a.m. and that the minority should submit its witness request no later than November 9 at 11:20 a.m. That will begin next week.

"Jim Jordan has been on the front lines in the fight for fairness and truth", McCarthy said.

A more junior member of the committee, Rep. Rick Crawford of Arkansas, will step aside from the panel during impeachment proceedings to make room for Jordan, House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy announced.

Republicans are temporarily moving aside a current member of the panel to make space for the OH lawmaker on the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, in an unusual move that heralded the seriousness of the situation for Trump and his party.

Jordan and Meadows sit on the Oversight Committee, while New York's Zeldin serves on the Foreign Relations Committee.

CDC Says Potential Chemical Culprit in Vape-Related Deaths Identified
It usually does not cause harm when swallowed, but its effects when inhaled have not been extensively studied. Anne Schuchat, the principal deputy director of the CDC, said during a news conference today (Nov. 8).

"In Speaker Pelosi's House, those responsibilities have fallen victim to partisan witch hunts", McCarthy added. "When it is finished, Rick will rejoin the committee and resume his work to keep our country safe".

On Thursday, Jordan told reporters that Republicans are looking to subpoena the whistleblower at the focus of the impeachment inquiry.

Jordan was also one of about two-dozen GOP lawmakers who stormed a closed-door deposition last month after blasted the Democrats for holding the impeachment inquiry in a secretive manner.

The whistleblower complaint expressed concerns about Trump's July 25th phone call with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, during which Trump asked Zelensky to investigate 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son's connections to a Ukrainian gas company. Trump has denied wrongdoing. Only the Intelligence Committee will hold hearings in the public phase starting Wednesday. "On Friday, November 15, 2019, we will hear from Marie Yovanovitch".

If that's the case, it will be Nunes, not Jordan, who will lead the Republican portions of the public hearings.
