Britain's Prince William unveils prize for climate innovation

The prize will encourage people to do more, to find new solutions that work on every level that will have a positive effect on environmental change and improve living standards globally, particularly for communities that are most at risk from climate change.

"Either we continue as we are and irreparably damage our planet or we remember our unique power as human beings and our continual ability to lead, innovate and problem-solve".

Prince William is looking ahead to the next decade with a plan to solve some of the world's biggest environmental problems.

The Instagram post announcing the Earthshot Prize featured a photo of Prince William taken by his wife, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge. "The next ten years present us with one of our greatest tests - a decade of action to fix the Earth", with these words the prince launched the royal family's most ambitious project to date, titled Earthshot Prize.

Famous faces also appear, including Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, the Suffragettes, and Rosa Parks.

The name of the prize, Earthshot, is by the speech given by United States president John F Kennedy at the joint session of Congress where he spoke about developing technology and promoting an ambitious space program.

Prince William is likely to become King of England one day which would make Kate Queen and royal experts believe she has been taking steps towards this in recent times, taking on more royal duties and engagements than ever before.

Moscow too has sought to convince Washington to ease its hard-line stance and, together with Beijing , introduced a U.N. It conducted its last and sixth nuclear test in September of the same year.

He went on, "The next ten years present us with one of our greatest tests-a decade of action to fix the Earth".

In October, he called for more education and political action to tackle climate change, as he and the duchess visited a melting glacier in Pakistan.

It gave no detailed figures of the size of the prizes or how they would be funded, saying the project was supported by a global coalition of philanthropists and organisations.

The prize, inspired by U.S. president John F Kennedy's ambitious "Moonshot" lunar programme and backed by Sir David Attenborough, promises "a significant financial award", a statement said. So yes, Prince William is willing to put in his own to stop the global disaster that is leading to the destruction of the planet, but in return he wants bright ideas to turn around.

The royal couple had trailed the announcement with a cryptic tweet on Monday, which read: "Stay tuned for our first announcement of 2020 very shortly". And he has spoken with his father Prince Charles and grandfather Prince Philip - the latter, a former worldwide president of the World Wildlife Fund - as he formulated his idea.

"It now poses a grave threat not only to the survival of some of the world's most treasured species, but also to economic and political stability in many areas around the world", the Prince of Wales said.
