'Captain Marvel 2' Is In Development at Marvel

When Marvel Studios announced their phase four slate for the MCU - which consists of the films and TV series that were gonna be released from 2020 to 2021 - it came as a surprise to many that Captain Marvel 2 wasn't on the list. Thus a sequel was inevitable. No plot details for the sequel were revealed, but rather than being set in the past again like Captain Marvel was, this story will take place in the present day.

THR also reports that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck who co-wrote and directed the first Captain Marvel, will not be returning to direct the sequel.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Danvers is a human who develops incredible powers in an explosion involving an alien machine and is caught in the battle between two alien races, the Kree and the Skrulls. The Hollywood Reporter claims the studio is bringing on Megan McDonnell, a writer on the upcoming Disney+ series WandaVision, to write the script.

China sentences former Interpol chief
Grace Meng is now suing Interpol, accusing it of failing to protect him from arrest in China and failing to look after his family. Meng reportedly granted favors to individuals and companies, some while working at the Public Security Ministry.

Last July, while at San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, reassured fans that there would be a Captain Marvel 2 but did not disclose any further details. They'll possibly direct a possible Disney+ series.

While you could make a Captain Marvel 2 set in the past during the character's time in deep space (that might actually be pretty cool), it probably makes more sense to set the film after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
