Greta Thunberg brushes off mockery from USA finance chief

Climate activist Greta Thunberg on Thursday struck out at Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin for saying she should go to college before calling on countries to cease investing in fossil fuels.

Mnuchin's quip came 2 days after Trump and Thunberg sparred indirectly at the World Economic Forum in the Swiss ski resort of Davos.

Mnuchin made the remarks Thursday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, according to The Guardian, where he initially joked that he had no idea who the teen is.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is now attending the World Economic Forum and the former investment banker/film producer chose to use the opportunity to be publicly dismissive of teen climate activist Greta Thunberg.

The 17-year-old environmentalist has already come under criticism from President Trump, who repeatedly condemned Thunberg for her apocalyptic predictions.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin threw shade at Greta Thunberg call for fossil fuel divestment saying 'she should study economics'.

"We don’t want these things done by 2050, 2030 or even 2021, we want this done now", she said.

After the press conference, the activists were set to join the Friday for Future protest in Davos. "We put ourselves in the spotlight", she added.

41 dead from China coronavirus, 1300 cases
Like the flu, the Wuhan coronavirus seems to have a greater impact on older adults and people with underlying health conditions. It isn't clear how the man, who is in his 30s and lives alone, contracted the coronavirus while in China.

"We are being criticized like that all the time", Thunberg said at the news conference onstage with four other campaigners.

Resolving the Trump administration's position on environment, Mnuchin specified the USA position had in fact been "misinterpreted".

After Trump said the United States had committed to joining the one trillion tree initiative, Thunberg retorted that fixing the climate crisis was not only about trees.

"Climate change is one of many issues" that affect the environment, he said, adding Trump was a strong believer in "clean air and clean water".

"If you don't have an economics degree like Greta, they'll mock you for not having one", said Ocasio-Cortez.

"We regret publishing a photo this morning that cropped out Ugandan climate activist Vanessa Nakate, the only person of color in the photo", Sally Buzbee, the agency's executive editor, said in a statement.

"From the first day we aimed for effective climate action".
