He said this and other new testimony must be included in the Senate trial.

"He looks forward to having the due process rights in the Senate that Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats denied to him, and expects to be fully exonerated".

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said that convicting President Donald Trump in a Senate impeachment trial would "almost guarantee the impeachment of every future president".

The list includes House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who will be the lead manager and who led much of the impeachment inquiry out of his committee, and Nadler, D-N.Y., whose panel drafted the articles of impeachment.

She did not name any impeachment managers Tuesday.

Trump became the third president to be impeached last month when the House approved charges that he abused his power and obstructed Congress. The others are Reps.

"The reason it doesn't take a very long time is that the facts are simple", the official said, "and the facts are on the President's side, and the House Democrats don't have any credible evidence to show any wrongdoing".

And in choosing Garcia and Crow, she acknowledged the class of freshmen lawmakers who helped flip the House in the 2018 elections. Undermined our national security.

"I have my own theories, of course, and they're not good ones", she said. Inside, Pelosi told them she had chosen them for the high visibility role. "Just because the House has been a circus, doesn't mean the Senate ought to be", he added.

But regardless of the outcome, the Senate trial will be a historic and momentous event. That was followed by questions submitted in writing by senators directed to either the managers or the then-President's defense team.

"What is at stake here is the Constitution of the United States".

So proclaimed James Ziglar, then the Senate sergeant-at-arms, at Clinton's trial in 1999.

One thing to note is that one of the most important, if not the most important parts of beginning a trial is to set the rules of the game. But senators could vote to change the schedule.

Last week, McConnell announced that he has enough Republican votes to adopt trial rules that don't immediately allow witnesses.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar: If Republicans don't allow witnesses in Pres. Trump's impeachment trial, they might as well give him a crown and scepter and "make him king". The witnesses Senate Democrats want to call could strengthen the argument that Trump held up the security aid Ukraine badly needed to put more pressure on that country to conduct the investigations he sought. Just four Republican senators could form a majority with Democrats to insist on new testimony.

On this, watch GOP moderate Sens.

"This is a political impeachment", said House Republican Doug Collins. It did contain motions for dismissal or calling new witnesses.

During Clinton's impeachment trial, 13 House Republicans were chosen as impeachment managers.

"We couldn't wait, because some people said, 'Well, let the election take care of it.' He's trying to cheat in that election".

Senators Sanders of Vermont, Warren of MA and Klobuchar of Minnesota all made the stage for January's primary debate - but the three candidates could face being taken off the campaign trail as the impeachment trial moves to their chamber this week. "I don't think very many Republican senators are going to say that they think Trump did that or that he's guilty of that, but I think majority think that he did".
