Reaction: Jake Voracek Scores Overtime Winner in St. Louis!

Travis Konecny has scored a goal and an assist in two games played against Montreal this season. It happens regularly, and it happened last season, when the St. Louis Blues went from the cellar of the Western Conference to hoisting the Stanley Cup. One of them did end up allowing a goal as Philadelphia had a lapse in coverage on the penalty kill, leaving Justin Faulk wide open near the bottom of the left circle to easily score his fourth goal of the year and put his side up 1-0 after one.

Voracek's goal spoiled the Blues' comeback bid from two goals down and snapped his 10-game scoreless drought, dating back to December 21.

If Hart misses two weeks, he'll only miss four games. The Flyers answered back for second period tallies by Tyler Pitlick and Michael Raffl. Brian Elliott, playing for the first time since January 7, stopped 30 shots and improved to 6-2 in his career against his former team. The Blues are 21-0-6 this season when scoring first, the only team in the National Hockey League without a regulation loss in that scenario.

Oh, and Couturier truly does make everyone around him better. Pitlick scored when his centring attempt from behind the net deflected off the leg of a Blues defender past Binnington. It was a set play, with James van Riemsdyk nicely redirecting a setup from Claude Giroux and Konecny getting a slam-dunk at the opposite post. The penalty kill was outstanding. Flyers assistant coach Mike Yeo made his first return to St. Louis since he was replaced by Craig Berube in November 2018. They have picked up right where they left off last season and will look to keep the good times rolling when they host the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night.

Author Laura Lippman tweeted back that "a meritocracy could work only if the game weren't rigged". Still, some Twitter users accused King of trying to cover up his own prejudice.

Wednesday's OT was much more methodical than the breakneck, frenetic style of the overtime against Boston two nights earlier, where the teams raced end-to-end trading off scoring chances.

Jakub Voracek scored at the 3:33 mark of overtime to end the Blues record tying home winning streak. However, there were also a few too many not-so-good shifts on this night, wh risky plays or misreads ended up in the Flyers net.

What a game and what a win from the Flyers. The momentum swings were palpable. Hart has been solid for the club this year with the second-most wins at home of any goaltender posting a 13-2-2 record (.940 save percentage, 1.68 GAA). Both previous games with the Canadiens went to overtime before the Flyers prevailed, so Thursday's game is hardly a gimme.
