The game follows Jedi-in-hiding Cal Kestis as he battles the Empire while rediscovering his Jedi training following their extermination from Order 66. As you might expect, EA is raking in cash from microtransactions.

During its earnings presentation, Electronic Arts shared a slide that showed its digital net bookings by composition for the third quarter of fiscal year 2020. We see that live services pulled in a whopping $993 million during the quarter, which is no small amount.

These "Live Service" dollars were the biggest part of a quarterly pot that ran to $1.593 billion of revenue, representing some $361m of profit. The company reported its financial results for that time frame, with highlights including Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order surpassing 8 million units sold, and The Sims 4 reaching 20 million unique players worldwide.

MEPs vote for universal phone connection and an end to Apple Lightning
It's also reversible, meaning a user is less likely to damage a device by trying to jam in the connector the wrong way. What could it mean for Canadians? Only the iPhone and some related accessories still rely on the lighting connector.

During EA's Q3 2020 financial call with investors, EA revealed that "Sales of Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order significantly beat our expectations". In a follow-up question about whether Fallen Order would get more DLC or some kind of live service add-on, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said Fallen Order would be one of the publisher's strongest "catalogue sellers" over the year and would help drive more subscribers to EA's subscription offerings on PC and consoles. But for wht it's worth, it "would be different from what we see in an Ultimate Team or an Apex Legends".

EA have promised new games in the Dragon Age, Battlefield, and Star Wars franchises by the end of 2022 buy they are still rather reluctant to bring their games to Nintendo Switch.

Microtransactions, eh? Can't live with 'em, can't actually take them out of games entirely. When we think about making games, we think about the motivations on why people want to play: Inspiration, escape, social connection, creation, self-improvement, all these types of things.
