Woman in 20s is country's 4th coronavirus case

The woman is a student at Western University, but has not been on campus since her return to London, the school said in a statement. That's in large part thanks to the dedication of the province's public health officials and everyone working on the front lines of our health care system, all of whom are effectively monitoring for, detecting and containing this virus.

She has now recovered from the illness, and, since January 24, she has been in isolation.

The patient has recovered to stay in regular contact with the Middlesex-London Health Unit.

Officials are not releasing any information about the flight that the patient returned to Canada on because she was not symptomatic at the time and therefor wouldn't have posed a transmission risk. The wife did not go to hospital and is "feeling well" at home in self-isolation, Yaffe said. Her roommate had moved out shortly before she returned home, and her partner has worn a mask during every interaction with her since she got back.

Dr. Horacio Arruda warned the public against wearing masks, which he said "do not constitute, by science, a useful tool for the general population in Quebec, even in the context of a coronavirus outbreak".

"The illness was very mild".

As of Friday morning, Ontario public health officials were testing and retesting 17 individuals as possible cases. She remains in isolation despite being well.

PHAC has issued travel health notices about coronavirus.

The province's chief medical officer of health is expected to share more details about the case at a news conference at 2:30 p.m. EST Friday.

Earlier in the day, the first Canadian hospitalized with 2019-nCoV was discharged from Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.

Tam, who updated members of the House of Commons health committee on the outbreak, said the risk of catching the virus in Canada remains low.

The federal government, meanwhile, announced Wednesday that it has chartered a plane to evacuate 160 Canadians who've been trapped in China due to strict quarantine measures imposed by the Chinese government in a bid to stop the spread of the virus. "The only time she's been out of her home since then is to hospital for testing and, again, wore the equivalent of a surgical mask to protect others".

"We have a very mobile population, with a lot of travel between Canada and China, so it is not surprising to learn of this news today". Coronavirus can cause flu-like symptoms, including moderate to severe respiratory illness, fever, cough and pneumonia.
