Coronavirus could alter plans for 2020 NFL Draft



It states: "The following is prohibited: Any draft-eligible player travelling to a club facility or other location to meet with club personnel; club personnel (including BLESTO and NFS scouts) travelling to any location, including a college campus to visit with a draft-eligible player".

The NFL will continue to "closely monitor developments" and is "prepared to make any changes necessary as circumstances warrant".

The official visits are an important part of the pre-draft process.

This comes less than a day after it was reported the Jets wouldn't restrict their employees from traveling to draft prospects' pro days.

In the absence of visits, teams are allowed to interview players over the phone or via video conferences. Teams are required to report any of these calls to the player personnel department.

A memo from the National Football League to all general managers, head coaches and personnel directors was distributed Friday. However, the NFL said it is not now planning to change the start of the league year. The league also emphasized that the rules would ensure a level competitive playing field.

The NFL also has a decision to make regarding the annual owner meetings in Palm Beach, Fla., which are scheduled for March 29 to April 1.

The Raiders are now based in Alameda but are set to move to Las Vegas before next season.

The league will also work with its competition committee and organizers of the NFL Combine to collect and disseminate medical information of draft prospects. The league has given no indication that the start of the league year, March 18, will be moved.
