Five more Italian doctors have died from coronavirus, bringing the death toll among medics in the country to 13.

Italy is calling in its military to help enforce the lockdown in the nation's heavily coronavirus-stricken northern region of Lombardy, as people have been ignoring the government's quarantine rules while the country's death toll and confirmed cases of the virus continue to surge. "We doctors knew it was not", Lorini said of when the CCP virus appeared in northern Italy in February.

The total number of CCP virus cases in Italy rose to 47,021 from a previous 41,035, said Italy's Civil Protection, as reported by Italian daily Corriere Della Sera.

The Italian government has made a decision to use its military for enforcing the nation's coronavirus lockdown, according to Attilio Fontana, the governor of Italy's Lombardy region, who spoke during a press conference on Friday, reports La Repubblica.

Like Italy, Spain also recorded its highest-ever death toll of 235. Fontana during a news conference on Friday, March 20, said that he has made a series of requests to Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte in relation to the use of the army to make sure that the measures are strictly applied.

"Look at the news that's coming out of Italy and take note of what the situation is like", she said. Because of the outbreak, the whole country is in total lockdown.

He said numerous people who show up at the border are in the USA legally, and would not be detained there. Canada has 925 cases of the COVID-19 respiratory illness caused by the coronavirus, and 12 deaths.

"We have to do even more to contain the infections.Correct behaviour from everyone is essential to win this battle", Health Minister Roberto Speranza said after signing the latest directive.

"We have saturated our mattress availability, we're in trouble, we must send away patients to other hospitals, all of the intensive care units at the areas are complete so this is truly a large big issue", he informed Euronews. "This is a small hospital and we are taking in a lot of people, I would say the capacity is finished".

And Chinese medical experts helping Italy deal with the crisis have said the restrictions imposed in Lombardy are "not strict enough".

A team of 50 medics from Cuba is arriving over the weekend to help, while an American field hospital is expected to begin operating today in Cremona, a city in the province of virus-stricken Lombardy.

Lazio, the region that includes Rome, reports 1,008 cases and 43 deaths.
