Crocodile Dundee star Mark Blum dies from coronavirus complications

The New Jersey-born actor died this week, New York-based theater company Playwrights Horizons revealed via a tribute on social media.

Hollywood is mourning the loss of longtime actor Mark Blum who passed away from complications caused by the novel coronavirus, according to multiple reports. "His performances in the dozens of plays I saw him in were unfailingly deep, subtle, hilarious and moving in equal measure". May you rest in peace and power.

In the July 2012 issue of Playbill, the actor spoke about appearing in both revivals of the Gore Vidal play, explaining, "It feels a little like a dream where you think it's supposed to go in a certain way, but you look around and all the people are different". He was really very kind, was always supportive and amusing, a gentle man and a great actor who loved the work.

"He was one of essentially the most revered actors in NY: a beacon of fierce intelligence, dry wit & deep kindness on stage and off". She tweeted about the last time she caught up with him - for an hour last Christmas. "My heart breaks for his attractive wife Janet". The couple had not traveled recently or knowingly been in contact with anyone with the virus, she said, but Blum had asthma.

"Mark Blum played my father in my very first film Getting to Know You", tweeted Braff. Blum served as a board member of the Screen Actors Guild and SAG-AFTRA from 2007 to 2013. "I was so nervous. He was a wonderful actor and he will be missed".

Blum's final NY stage appearance was last fall in Fern Hill, in which he co-starred with Jill Eikenberry, John Glover and Mark-Linn Baker.

Blum - who was married to to actress Janet Zarish - also guest starred on Succession as Bill, retiring head of Waystar Royco's parks division.
