He also stated that he spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice-President Mike Pence and was offered a piece of advice while seemingly taking a jab at the sports organizations who made a decision to shut things down due to the spreading virus.

UFC President Dana White also joined ESPN's SportsCenter on Thursday evening to answer questions about whether or not other upcoming fight events will proceed as planned in the wake of the global coronavirus outbreak.

"We will just have the staff that's running the event inside the arena that night", White said. "They're saying 'Be cautious, be careful, but live your life and stop panicking'".

The UFC will close this weekend's UFC Fight Night event in Brasilia, Brazil, to the public, after the governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha, temporarily suspended all large gatherings in the city due to growing concerns over the coronavirus outbreak.

The UFC announced in a release Thursday that the event - headlined by a heavyweight fight between Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris - has been relocated to the UFC APEX, the organization's headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will take place on the scheduled date of April 11.

'We're working closely with the government if there are any changes over there, but as of right now that event is moving forward, ' said White.

White added that only the fighters and staffers working the event, which will be televised on ESPN, will be inside the venue. White also said the March 21 Fight Night card in London would have fans in attendance, but if the local government says differently, then they will comply. White said that he was encouraged by President Donald Trump to not panic over COVID-19 fears.

'This guy, and when I say this guy I'm talking about President Trump, is such a good friend and such a loyal, unbelievable guy, man, ' White once told TMZ. He's been a friend of mine for a long time'.
