As of Saturday morning, the United States has 66 known cases of coronavirus, reports NBC.

A person in Washington state in the U.S. has died of the coronavirus, officials announced Saturday - the first death on USA soil.

The article, written by officials at the National Institutes of Health and the CDC, said if it is assumed that the cases of people who have no or mild symptoms is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be "considerably less than 1%".

The patient is an adult woman with chronic health conditions who was hospitalized for difficulty breathing, said Sara Cody, director of the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department, at a press conference Friday afternoon (Feb. 28).

"Most people in the US will have little immediate risk of exposure to the virus", Messonnier said.

In total, more than 2,800 people worldwide have died from the virus so far, mostly in China, where the death rate is estimated to be around 2 percent, much lower than the death rates for previous coronavirus outbreaks like severe acute respiratory syndrome or Middle East respiratory syndrome, which had death rates of 10% and 34% respectively. President Donald Trump said in the press briefing that the coronavirus patient died overnight.

The announcement came one day after Washington reported one of four cases of so-called community-spread coronavirus, meaning the patients didn't contract the virus through travel or contact with known carriers.

California's first case of community spread COVID-19 was announced Wednesday and confirmed to be in Solano County, roughly 90 miles away from Santa Clara.

'MLS will be Premier League-ish in 25 years'
In comparison, the National Hockey League in 2013 inked a 12-year, $5.3 billion (CDN) deal for Canadian media rights alone. The LAFC deal continues a rapid uptick in team valuations for MLS, which starts its 25th season this weekend.

The woman, from Solano, has been considered to be the first known case in the USA of someone who contracted the virus here without having traveled recently overseas and without having had contact with anyone who recently returned from an global trip. Pence also said that the administration was advising citizens not to travel to specific areas in Italy and South Korea that "have been most affected by the coronavirus". Her husband contacted health officials on Feb 26, who sent a team to test the woman in her home.

Peter Beilenson, Sacramento County's top health official, was quoted Friday by the Sacramento Bee newspaper as saying that he expected that a few of employees from UC Davis Medical Center, where a woman infected by the virus was treated, to test positive. "We really believe now that the risk is increasing". One is a Life Care worker, a woman in her 40s who is in satisfactory condition at a hospital, and the other is a woman in her 70s and a resident at Life Care who is hospitalized in serious condition.

A person in Washington state in the USA has died from the coronavirus - the first death on U.S. soil. "We hope that if there is spread, that spread will be limited, and that any disease in the USA will be mild".

The CDC has processed more than 3,600 tests for the new coronavirus, according to Azar, who said there is now no backlog in having them processed quickly.

The county claimed in a news release that they have actually been planning for "community transmission" because previous instances were confirmed.

He said the right measures can contain the epidemic.

In the meantime, Ghebreyesus said people should be sure to wash their hands and regularly clean surfaces with disinfectant.
