Gavin Newsom said Thursday that 56% of people living in California - about 25.5 million people - could contract the coronavirus in the next eight weeks, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Even though the world as a whole should definitely be taking the current coronavirus outbreak very seriously, it now looks like Californians should be taking extreme precaution after a new report was released stating about 56% of the state's population could be infected with COVID-19 over the next two months.

The governor asked Trump to "immediately deploy the USNS Mercy Hospital Ship to be stationed at the port of Los Angeles through September 1, 2020".

The USNS Mercy is a hospital ship that was originally built during the Cold War to provide medical services during wartime.
