Australian Home Minister Peter Dutton tests positive for coronavirus

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton, who was in the United States for the meeting earlier in March, confirmed that he tested positive for the new virus that emerged late past year in Wuhan, China, before spreading to more than 100 other countries.

"The White House is aware that Mr Dutton tested positive for Covid-19".

During his trip to Washington, D.C., Dutton met with Ivanka Trump, Barr and Trump's advisor Kellyanne Conway last Thursday.

In a statement on Friday morning, he said the planned meeting with Treasurer of Australia Josh Frydenberg in Canberra would now take place via Skype.

Peter Dutton has shared an update on his health after contracting coronavirus, confirming he's feeling much better.

There were earlier concerns Mr Dutton was in close proximity to a number of Cabinet ministers both last week and this week and some of those ministers may need to go into self-isolation as a precaution.

The Hollywood couple were reportedly in Australia in January for the film's pre-reproduction, but then returned to the States for the Academy Awards.

A day after being photographed with Dutton and Martin, she attended an event at Mar-a-Lago with her father and Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro, who had allegedly tested positive for the virus, but has since denied the reports.

Labor health spokesman Chris Bowen questioned the 24-hour advice when people were being told to self-isolate after coming into contact with someone with the virus.

Dutton is the first member of the Australian government to return a positive test for coronavirus.

The White House stressed that Trump, the president's daughter and a senior adviser, was not exhibiting any symptoms of the disease and said she did not need to self-quarantine.

British Minister of State Security James Brokenshire also attended and had breakfast with Mr Dutton while in Washington DC.

Mr Dutton is among 184 people in Australia who have been confirmed as having Covid-19. Mr. Trudeau is said to be now in self-isolation.
