On Tuesday, the league announced that all 30 teams will donate one million US dollars each, a total of 30 million to help the working staff go through the difficulties.

Last week, the league announced that spring training would be canceled as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, and Manfred announced Monday that the start of the 2020 MLB season would be delayed indefinitely.

Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred announced Tuesday a pledge of $1 million per club to assist ballpark employees who will be financially impacted due to the absence of major league games.

"In these hard times of navigating this pandemic, it is important that we come together as a society to help the most vulnerable members of our communities", Manfred said in a release.

Philadelphia 76ers Say 3 Employees Test Positive For Coronavirus
All told, National Basketball Association teams have announced that 10 players have tested positive. Their statement did not clarify whether the positive tests were players or other team employees.

Major League Baseball and the Players Association can figure out the adjustments necessary for a shortened season, just as they did after past work stoppages.

Specific details around the team-level donations are still being finalized, dependent in part on local regulations and collective bargaining agreements in some cases.

All 30 Major League clubs have established $1MM funds to cover the lost wages of their gameday and event staffs during the league-wide shutdown, ESPN's Jeff Passan reports (via Twitter). The decision follows the federal government recommendation restricting events of more than 50 people for the next eight weeks. Thus, the earliest Opening Day of the 2020 season will be held is mid-May. There are still, of course, other issues to address - namely the manner in which minor league players will be compensated during the hiatus. Therefore, we wanted to help by providing their remaining allowance.
