The coronavirus (COVID-19) has really done a number on the United States, disrupting how we work, learn, and even shop.

"This is a unique opportunity to offer competitive and entertaining racing to our viewers as we all work through these challenging times together", Fox Executive Producer and Executive Vice President/Head of Production and Operations Brad Zager stated. Two days later, Cup champion Joey Logano, 2012 champ Brad Keselowski, and Cup Series Most Popular Driver Chase Elliott also joined the field. Sports Business Journal's, Adam Stern, reported NASCAR will have a live race broadcasted on FS1 on Sunday starting at 1:30 p.m. EST, "barring any late issues". "We value our relationships across the NASCAR community and appreciate all of the effort that it took in bringing this project to life". While many drivers racing in Sunday's race will have elaborate setups with multiple monitors and steering wheels set up to resemble an actual Cup Series vehicle, average folks can race with a computer game pad.

NASCAR on Fox's broadcast team of Jeff Gordon, Mike Joy and Larry McReynolds will call the action during the 90-minute eSports event, which will be held at the virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway.

NASCAR drivers will compete in virtual NASCAR Cup Series cars on the iRacing simulation platform. Bowyer, who also dabbles as an analyst for the network, will serve as Fox's in-car analyst as he drives in an iRacing simulator at Fox's studio in Charlotte.

Virus prompts U.S. and Mexico to restrict border travel
The United States and Canada also plan to close their border to nonessential traffic in the coming days. Tens of thousands of people seek asylum at the Mexican border and the border closure will affect them.

According to Fox, the race will be broadcast nearly like an actual race is.

While it's important to note that iRacing isn't actually like real racing, it may be the closest type of simulation among American sports.

The event will feature two 50-lap races, one for Xbox One gamers and the other for PlayStation 4 users on the officially-licensed title NASCAR Heat 4.
