NFL Cancels Pre-Draft Visits

The Broncos' pre-draft process will look a little different in 2020, at least for the time being. In addition, the league took action and advised teams to discontinue their pre-draft visits.

The league sent a memo to all 32 clubs on Friday afternoon saying the ban would go into effect until further notice at the end of the business day.

It states: "The following is prohibited: Any draft-eligible player travelling to a club facility or other location to meet with club personnel; club personnel (including BLESTO and NFS scouts) travelling to any location, including a college campus to visit with a draft-eligible player".

In the absence of visits, teams are allowed to interview players over the phone or via video conferences.

Cuomo Urges Businesses to Close, Have Employees Work From Home
To date, there have only been a handful of confirmed cases of the coronavirus among school staff and students in district schools. Almost three-quarters of trainees in New York City schools are taken into consideration financially deprived.

The league announced in the memo that it will work with the Competition Committee and General Managers Advisory Committee to determine the best method to provide medical information about the prospects. But the Miami Dolphins, perhaps anticipating that the National Football League could shut down pre-draft travel, managed to sneak Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins and Utah quarterback Jordan Love in for official visits on Thursday and Friday, before the National Football League banned all travel.

In the memo, the league explains that the changes have been made to protect the health of club employees, draft prospects and the public.

I can tell you word is the NFL Draft won't be held anywhere near the weekend of April 23-25 and there's been no decision as to when it will happen or where it will happen.

Original story posted today at 10:57 AM: I'm told one option that is being strongly considered is pushing back free agency, which was slated to begin on March 18 at 4 PM ET, to Wednesday, April 1.
