Nike To Close All U.S Stores Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

The Beaverton, Ore. -based company confirmed this morning that its US locations, as well as units in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Western Europe, will be closed from Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 27.

Workers will still be paid in full during this time off, CNBC reported.

OR shoe giant Nike announced Sunday that it would close retail locations in several countries - including in the United States, Canada, parts of Europe and Australia - to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The store closures start on Monday and will remain closed until Friday on the following week.

Meantime, Nike is still keeping open its stores in South Korea, Japan, most of China and in "many other countries", the company said, based on daily assessments of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the network.

USA sportswear retailers Nike Inc and Under Armour Inc said on Sunday they are closing all stores in the United States to limit the spread of the coronavirus. The company also announced some safety measures for its staff, including an option to work from home, staggered work schedules and additional cleaning measures.

Other major retailers have announced they're closing stores or reducing hours in response to the virus.

The global sportswear giant said in a statement that customers will still be able to shop on Nike.com and the Nike app.
