Pence staffer tests positive for coronavirus

Throughout this past week, Pence has been in "regular consultation with the White House physician".

This came after a staffer in his office tested positive for the illness on Friday.

Mike Pence said he would be tested for the virus after one of his office staffers contracted the illness. Pence's office told Fox News that the staffer had not been to the White House since Monday, and had cold-like symptoms but was doing well.

Pence, who for the past week has repeatedly maintained that as he has no symptoms or had sustained contact with any coronavirus patients he does not need to be tested, went on to explain why he had reversed his position.

Pence, during Saturday's White House coronavirus press briefing, provided additional information regarding the ill staffer and noted that he and second lady Karen Pence will get tested for the first time.
