Italian politicians have been trumpeting that message throughout the COVID-19 crisis that has killed thousands in their country, but many people still aren't getting the message.

Meanwhile, another Italian mayor becomes an internet sensation for shouting at the public to practice social distance.

The compilation video was posted to Twitter on March 22, and has since amassed more than 3.7 million views, 98,000 likes and 44,000 retweets in less than 24 hours.

Other mayors have confronted people out in the streets directly.

WARNING: The following video contains language that some readers may find offensive. "You're not allowed to be here, go play at home with your playstations". He then attacks one of the most common excuses in Italy for breaching quarantine: to walk a dog.

Mayor of Reggio Calabria Giuseppe Falcomatà said: "This isn't a movie". "Go home and play some video games".

"These f*****g hairdressers who go into houses to cut women's hair, what the f**k are they for?"

"I'm getting news that some [people] would like to throw graduation parties", said Vincenzo De Luca, the president of Campania, said in a Facebook live statement. I'm gonna send the police over.

Despite the whole country going into lockdown, mayors and leaders are still having to call on people not to break the law and some are showing how serious they are. Tomorrow, not in a year.

United Kingdom scientists say social distancing needs to last 'most of a year'
This won't all be in one go, instead the heavy restrictions will come and go in order to manage the number of cases. The best estimate of the proportion of people who die after being infected is in the range of 0.5% to 1%.

"I'm the mayor!" he says.

'I can't formally ban you from leaving your house? "You are not Will Smith in 'I Am Legend", therefore, go home!'"

'I will ban you from setting foot on public soil unless for proven necessities'.

The mayors, who appear to be from various Italian communities, basically just run around yelling at people to go the fuck home.

"What the f- is that for?" he demands in the video. You don't understand that people die? "Who the f*** is supposed to even see you with your hair all done in a casket?" The death toll in Italy is now higher than China.

The plead to abide by government precautions follow the country's decision to enter a nation-wide lockdown, which shut down non-essential businesses and barred any travel within the country.

Health officials caution against all global travel.

Symptoms can include fever, cough and difficulty breathing - very similar to a cold or flu.
