US Man Stabs Father to Death During Zoom Video Call as Attendees Watch Horror

Police are investigating a killing that played out over a Zoom chat Thursday in NY.

A 72-year-old man was stabbed to death during a call on the video conferencing platform Zoom in New York, United States. This seems to be the first incident where a person has been killed during a Zoom call.

Witnesses recalled hearing Powers' heavy breathing over the call.

Chat members saw Powers slump over and his naked son in the background, authorities said.

Suffolk Police said details on his arraignment and detention would be available once Scully-Powers is released from the hospital.

A Long Island man suspected of fatally stabbing his father on a live Zoom call confessed to the caught-on-camera killing after police found him trying to wash blood off his body with Dr Pepper, prosecutors said on Friday.

Scully-Powers was arrested and is to be charged with second-degree murder, Suffolk County Police said.

Police were reportedly delayed about 15 to 20 minutes because the chat participants didn't know Powers' exact address.

Scully-Powers was arrested about an hour later, having gotten only about 1 mile away from the home. WABC reported that Scully-Powers answered the door, before slamming it closed and running upstairs.

A number of people at the virtual meeting immediately called 911, said police.
