Professor John Newton, national co-ordinator of the United Kingdom coronavirus testing programme, said although it was still unclear to what extent the presence of antibodies indicates immunity to COVID-19, it was still a "very positive" development.

But some experts have urged caution over the test, with one saying that antibody tests for Covid-19 are "good for satisfying people's curiosity but no more".
