Other names for it include the hare moon, the corn-planting moon, and the milk moon, according to Royal Observatory Greenwich.

The peak of the supermoon will take place on the morning of Thursday, 7 May, but Britons will have to wait until the evening to see it. Greg Brown said: "Technically the exact moment of full moon is 11.45am, however the moon will not be visible in the sky in the United Kingdom at that time".

It's the third supermoon we've seen this year and, while experts say it won't be as striking as the previous two, it's still going to look around six percent larger than a normal full moon.

To see the Flower Moon as it sets or rises beyond the horizon, the most dramatic effect, look up the time of moonset and moonrise for your location and plan to be there a few minutes early. The final super "flower moon" can be viewed from Australia but you've only got a day to plan it. The term "supermoon" was coined by the astrologer Richard Nolle in 1979 and refers to either a new or full Moon that occurs within 90% of perigee, its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit.

The Flower Moon will officially become full at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, but it will appear full during a span that stretches from tonight through Friday.

Rest in Peace: Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk dies aged 73
Kraftwerk's innovation and creativity has seen them credited as one of electronic music's most influential and important acts. The late, great David Bowie even released the 1977 single "V-2 Schneider" in homage to the keyboard technician.

There have already been three supermoons in 2020; however, the Flower Moon will be the last one before April 2021 when a Super Pink Moon is expected. Before that, the second supermoon of the year appeared between 9 March to 11 March and it was popularly called as Super Worm Moon.

Viewing conditions will depend on the weather and skies in your area. A pair of binoculars will reveal dark and light regions of the moon in more detail, including some craters. However, there are plenty of space websites that will live stream the Super Flower Moon and can be accessed online.

The final supermoon of 2020 is set to rise in the sky on Thursday. If clouds obscure your view, the Virtual Telescope Project will be sharing a livestream of the supermoon over Rome on May 7 beginning at 18:30 UT, or Coordinated Universal Time. "During the twilight, the residual solar light scattered all around by our atmosphere allows us to admire the scenery, while the full moon rises or falls on the horizon".

Greg Brown, an astronomer at the Royal Observatory, told the PA news agency: "Technically the exact moment of full moon is 11.45am, however the moon will not be visible in the sky in the United Kingdom at that time".
