The LPGA Tour will freeze gamers' status into subsequent season, though will preserve the 2020 and 2021 campaigns separate within the report books.

The annual event was originally scheduled for May 26-31, but like many other sports was been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We will have official wins, players can shuffle into a victor category, they can play their way into (December's season-ending) Tournament of Champions in Orlando, but we feel players were not given the season that they earned in '19 for '20", Whan said.

The Ladies Professional Golf Association has made a decision to cancel Tour qualifying "Q-schools" this year because of the coronavirus pandemic with most players retaining their status for the 2021 season, the elite women's golf circuit said on Wednesday (May 20).

Current rookies will stay rookies in 2021 although the 2020 season will formally conclude with the CME Group Tour Championship in December, whereas the LPGA Tour qualifying faculty has been cancelled for 2020 and all pre-tournament qualifying for occasions has been suspended.

"We feel players were not given the season that they earned in '19 for '20".

"Regardless of how comfortable you are playing, regardless of whether or not you can get out of your home country because of travel restrictions, regardless of you live with your grandparents and they're 82 and they're asking you, 'Please don't go and come back, ' we allow you to play 2020 (with no risk of status for 2021)", Whan said.

"In this case, you can play '20, you can win, you can come back from medicals, maternities, that kind of thing, but generally speaking outside of wins, you'll likely be starting 2021 with your 2020 starting place", Whan said. "You'll essentially have the same priority position in '21 that you had walking into '20".

There will be no qualifying for any of the remaining 20 tournaments this year, with the fields to be decided the week before the event.
