President Donald Trump said Thursday in MI that the country would not shut down during a potential second wave of COVID-19 in the same way it has over the previous two months, Fox News reported. Trump to not wear a mask inside. But Texas, North Carolina, and Arizona registered spiking numbers of patients as they tried to reopen. "The cupboards were bare", Trump said, referring to the paucity of equipment in the Strategic National Stockpile, which the administration recently announced was being revamped and replenished.

In a worst-case scenario, COVID-19's virus curve could mimic the deadliest pandemic in American history, the Spanish Flu.

Asked about setting an example for other Americans, Trump said: "I think it sets an example both ways, and as I said I did have it on". I'm feeling good. Somehow, sitting in the Oval Office behind that handsome resolute desk, the great resolute desk, I think wearing a face mask as I greet presidents, prime ministers, dictators, kings, queens, I don't know.

"What does the President believe is "illegal" about the Secretary of State of MI sending out absentee ballot applications and what federal funding is he considering withholding from the State of MI as a result?" one reporter asked.

"I had a mask on for a period of time", Trump said at the time, according to CNN.

Trump's visit came after Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order banning nonessential visits to manufacturing facilities around the state to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

While speaking without a face covering - next to others wearing masks - the president added that masks were not necessary in the front of the plant, where he was standing.

Only 390 new cases were reported on Wednesday, but the number jumped once again to 413 in Thursday's data drop. The province reports that over 76% of all provincial cases have been resolved over the past few months.

Donald Trump has refused to wear a face mask once again during a tour in MI - despite an official warning he could be banned from visiting the state if he did so.

"Our country's coming back", Trump said in response to questions from reporters.

Trump is not wearing a mask because he is insecure about how he would look.

Trying to signal to the nation that life is returning to normal, the president had begun traveling again, with all of his initial trips to states that will be hotly contested in this November's election. The U.S. started its lockdown in mid-March.

Whitmer did not accompany Trump during the visit.

"We do not have plans to meet, but I did speak with him yesterday on the phone", Whitmer told "CBS This Morning" on Thursday. "We got to get our churches open".

Trump told Nessel on Twitter she shouldn't be taking her anger out on Ford. Trump on Thursday criticized Democratic governors, suggesting they were proceeding too slowly in reopening their states' economies. He has encouraged armed protests against the restrictions, tweeted "LIBERATE MICHIGAN" and criticized Whitmer (D) directly.
