Platforms scramble as ‘Plandemic’ conspiracy video spreads misinformation like wildfire Taylor Hatmaker @tayhatmaker 7 hours

The video, which goes viral on the internet, makes claims that contradict the recommendations of health institutions and may harm the fight against the epidemic.

As of midweek, it had been viewed and shared widely across YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Vimeo.

In the video, Mikovits also describes the coronavirus as a conspiracy among people trying to profit from vaccines and raises concerns about vaccines.

The video, an nearly 30-minute clip from a film known as "Plandemic Movie" or "Plandemic Documentary", spreads debunked conspiracy theories about the coronavirus and features a discredited biologist who has for years been "lionized by the medical conspiracy community", according to fact-checking organization Snopes. The video features Judy Mikovits, a controversial former medical researcher who repeats conspiracy theories about the coronavirus pandemic, including the idea of wearing a mask that could make you sick because it could expose you to your own "expressions of reactivated coronavirus".

Mikovits, a vocal critic of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country's leading infectious disease expert, also suggested that the virus had been engineered, saying it was not a "natural fact". The US Intelligence Community also announced that the virus is not man-made and is not genetically modified. According to the theory, doctors say that their patients die from the virus in order to receive money from the national health insurance program.

"We quickly remove flagged content that violates our Community Guidelines, including content that includes medically unsubstantiated diagnostic advice for COVID-19 and re-uploads of the original clip if they contain segments that we deem to be violative of YouTube's Community Guidelines", a YouTube spokesperson told The Washington Times.

Another published study by the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease in Nevada, her employer, failed to find evidence of XMRV in the blood of chronic fatigue syndrome patients and then the institution fired Mikovits in 2011.

"Claiming that wearing a mask can make you sick can cause huge harm, so we remove the video", a Facebook spokesperson said. said.

Meanwhile, Twitter said it was blocking the hashtags #PlagueOfCorruption and #Plandemicmovie from its search and trends.

One of her claims in the video is that putting on face masks can trigger the the killer virus within people. The company marked the link to the website of the documentary on tweets as unsafe.

The video, which had almost 2 million views on Facebook before being purged, claims a global network of rich and powerful people created the current pandemic to push towards their goal of "globally mandated vaccines".

Mikki Willis, the filmmaker behind Plandemic, said in an email that he does not plan to appeal the video takedowns, but added that he was "working on a strategy to avoid the guardians".
