Universal Orlando reveals proposed reopening date

Task force accepts Universal Studios’ plan to reopen as soon as June 5

John Sprouls, the theme park's chief administrative officer, told the task force that Universal is proposing opening June 1-5.

Universal Studios made the announcement during an Orange County, Florida Economic Recovery Task Force meeting attended by county and health department officials and community leaders.

The theme park has submitted plans to the governor to reopen and expects to resume operations sometime in June. On June 5, they would like to open to the public. The shopping and dining complex will continue its phased reopening on May 27th, when Disney-owned stores and restaurants at the complex reopen as well.

Lauren Seabrook of WFTV has also confirmed that these presentations must include reopening dates. Guests are temperature-screened before entering, there is limited parking and reduced entrances, and face coverings are required. In addition, things like valet parking will be halted outside the parks, and single rider lines will be closed, as maximizing attraction capacity is not now a priority.

Interactive play areas will be closed, and character meet and greets and parades will not take place. In restaurants, contactless ordering, payment and food service will be available through the use of a mobile app. As officials monitor the restart, limits on inside-the-park crowd capacity are expected to gradually be lifted, reports THR.
