The Nationals announced on Tuesday that the organization will hold a virtual ceremony to unveil their 2019 World Series rings on Sunday, May 24.

Rings have already been mailed out to members of the 2019 champions and should arrive at their homes within the next few days, according to Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic.

The Nationals said the hourlong event, which starts at 7 p.m. ET, will be streamed on the team's website and social channels.

Coronavirus can not spread easily by touching surfaces: US CDC
What the findings do emphasize is how critical it is to wear face masks, since some people who have COVID-19 may be asymptomatic. The CDC has updated its guidelines to state the novel coronavirus does not spread easily from touching surfaces or objects.

After a longer wait than usual, the reigning World Series champion Washington Nationals are finally getting their jewelry.

During Tuesday's announcement of the ring ceremony, principal owner Mark Lerner told fans they'd be "up close and personal with the team in a way that wouldn't be possible in a typical ring ceremony". With each donation, fans can share a message of support for the Nationals and the community and have the opportunity to be a part of this historic celebration with select messages featured during the ring ceremony program.

The ring ceremony will be shown on MASN, MLB Network and online. A year ago, Washington went into that day of the calendar with a 19-31 record before starting a turnaround that led to the franchise's first World Series appearance and championship. The start of the 2020 Major League Baseball season has been temporarily delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
