786 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Illinois, IDPH reports

Tests are open to the public, regardless of symptoms.

State health officials say a total of 1,521,189 COVID-19 tests have been performed since the start of the pandemic.

The State of IL reported an additional 786 additional cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

Public health officials have confirmed a total of 141,077 cases of COVID-19 in IL, including 6,873 deaths. More than 1.5 million tests have been administered. A total of 1,544,978 people have been tested. There were no cluster of cases reported, no emergency room visits related to COVID-19, nor any hospitalizations because of COVID-19 related illnesses.

As of late Thursday night, of those now hospitalized, 400 were in the ICU and 225 were on ventilators. On average, the region has enough medical/surgical beds to accommodate a 46% surge in COVID-19 cases.

Regional update: As of Saturday, the Northeast region (Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, McHenry, Lake and Will counties) reported a positivity rate average of 5%.

About 55.3% of ICU beds were available in this time frame within La Salle County - exceeding the 20% benchmark.

There were no new positive cases reported in any area county Friday.

The Southern region had an average positivity rate of 3%.
