Los Angeles Bars Ordered to Close Again Due to Rising Coronavirus Cases

California Gov. Newsom orders bars closed in counties including Los Angeles, citing coronavirus

On Sunday, due to the rising spread of COVID-19, California is ordering bars to close in Fresno, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, San Joaquin, and Tulare.

Gavin Newsom is shutting down all bars in several counties in California amid climbing coronavirus cases.

Newsom is mandating closures in counties that have been on the state's COVID-19 watch list for more than two weeks.

Governor Gavin Newsom's order is the first major rollback of efforts to reopen California's economy.

The list of counties impacted by Sunday's order was based on daily reports on the spread of the virus, state officials said. Mr. Pence did wear a face covering while sitting in the audience, according to a video.

"California is using data and science to guide our response to COVID-19". Newsom said state and local health officials were working to shut the county back down and return to more strict stay-at-home rules.

FA Cup: Chelsea join Arsenal in semi-final
Ole Gunnar Solsjaer's side Manchester United with play Frank Lampard's Chelsea in the semi-final of the 2019/20 FA Cup. So unless the Magpies can turn things around in the second half, City will be heading to Wembley to face Arsenal.

More than 206,000 Californians have tested positive for the coronavirus since the start of the outbreak, according to the Department of Public Health.

Bar closures are recommended for Sacramento, Contra Costa, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Stanislaus and Ventura.

Louder environments and the cacophony of conversation that are typical in bar settings, also require raised voices and greater projection of oral emitted viral droplets. These factors present a higher likelihood of transmission of COVID-19 within groups, between groups, and among the workforce.

These factors have led to an increasing concern by public health professionals within California and throughout the nation identifying bars as the highest risk sector of non-essential business now open. "Beyond the higher risk of transmission in bar settings, contract tracing, a key measure needed to control spread, is also more challenging in bars because of the constant mixing among patrons and a lack of record-keeping of those in attendance", a statement from the governor's office read.

California, Texas and Florida are the three most populous states in the country.

New coronavirus cases have jumped in more than half of USA states, reaching record highs after months of uneven mitigation efforts and sometimes contradictory messaging from government.
