As an alumna of Immaculate Heart High School, Meghan Markle gave a passionate commencement speech to the graduates of 2020, highlighting the Black Lives Matter movement.

Meghan admitted that she was "nervous" that she'd say the wrong thing or be "picked apart" in her speech, but also acknowledged that staying silent would be worse than any of that. "I wanted to say the right thing".

Markle, who has an African American mother and a white father, said the unrest reminded her of riots that took place in L.A. after police officers were acquitted in the videotaped beating of Rodney G. King. She died shortly after, in 1997, but she enjoyed her royal pressure-free life as much as she could before then.

She recalled words of advice given by a teacher when she was 15 and doing volunteering, who said to her: "Always do not forget to put another's needs above your fears".

'I remember seeing men in the back of a van just holding guns and rifles.

Markle and Prince Harry made the decision to step away from the Royal Family in March, moving their lives to California. "You get to be part of rebuilding", said Markle.

Sharpton added: "We were smarter than the underfunded schools you put us in but you had your knee on our neck".

Though not referred to in her video, the specter of racism also followed Markle upon moving to the United Kingdom, where she had a fraught relationship with the nation's press ― some of which was accused by the couple's supporters of prejudiced reporting.

Leverkusen chief makes transfer admission over Kai Havertz's future
In an interview with " Marca ", Simon Rolfes, Bayern Leverkusen sporting director, spoke about the future of the talented player. Havertz has just over two years remaining on his current deal at Leverkusen but the club could find it hard to keep hold of him.

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the volunteers, staff and students at Mayhew.

Meghan who retired from royal duties together with her husband Prince Harry, also mentioned several other people who suffered the same brutality but whose names are not known.

The Duchess goes on to tell the pupils of her memories of the LA riots when she was younger.

"You are going to lead with love, you are going to lead with compassion, you are going to use your voice", Meghan said sincerely.

"I know you know that black lives matter", she said, from their experience "with as diverse, vibrant and open-minded as I know the teachings at Immaculate Heart are".

She praised Mayhew for its work providing care and support to pets of the homeless, saying it "makes people more resilient".

The 38-year-old royal, who has adopted a puppy with Prince Harry since moving to the U.S. and has a long history of rescuing dogs, went on to praise the work of those who are helping animals during the coronavirus pandemic. "When you do, you will be contributing not just to animal welfare but to the shared welfare of us all". People treat her differently when they know what she is mixed with and it is a struggle as much as it can be a good thing depending on who she deals with.
