Google hikes You Tube TV price to $64.99

This new price takes effect today, June 30, for new members.

YouTube TV's first price at launch was $35, and the service has twice hiked rates before, first to $40 a month and past year in April to $50 a month.

With its latest price hike, the monthly price for YouTube TV has nearly doubled since the service debuted three years ago.

What about you? Are you sticking with YouTube TV following the $15/month price increase?

YouTube says that the increased price for YouTube TV is due to the rising cost of content. YouTube also argues that the higher price point reflects the "complete value" of YouTube TV.

"We don't take these decisions lightly, and realize how hard this is for our members", Christian Oestlien, YouTube TV's vice president of product management, said in the post announcing the changes.

Trzaskowski, who is also 48 and is from the Civic Platform (PO) party, appealed to voters "who want an open Poland, not a Poland always looking for enemies".

YouTube TV's price hike coincides with the service adding a number of ViacomCBS channels on Tuesday, including BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, TV Land and VH1. NickToons and TeenNick will be added later.

While it's unclear what if any impact the new price increases will have on YouTube TV's subscriber totals, the service has already grown into one of the largest virtual MVPDs in the U.S. During Google's fourth-quarter earnings call, CEO Sundar Pichai said YouTube TV now has more than 2 million paid subscribers. A half dozen more ViacomCBS channels are expected to hit the service later this year.

The original promise of live TV streaming services were smaller lineups, sometimes even a la carte options, for a lower monthly price. Other services, including AT&T TV Now, FuboTV and Sling have also raised prices. Overall, YouTube TV's base plan includes more than 85 channels.

According to a blog post from YouTube, the price hike is necessary as they're adding new features and more content.

YouTube TV is now $65/month. The service also refreshed its Live Guide on desktop to include details on what's now airing and what'll be available to watch within the next seven days. YouTube TV is the only streaming service that includes a DVR with unlimited storage space, plus 6 accounts per household each with its own unique recommendations, and 3 concurrent streams.
