According to Ray, Gleeson had originally turned down the part of Trump when he was first approached by Ray.

'The Comey Rule' will depict the former FBI Director James Comey - played by Jeff Daniels - as he serves under President Trump following his election in 2016. Comey was sacked by President Trump in 2017 after controversy over the FBI's investigation of the Hilary Clinton emails scandal and the separate investigation into Russian affect in the United States election.

"The trailer features Comey questioning why "there are four guys with ties with Russian Federation on one campaign" before Trump declares to him that "nobody gets treated as unfairly as I do â€" I need loyalty".

Director Billy Ray, who previously worked on films like Captain Phillips and Richard Jewell, spoke to Vanity Fair about creating the miniseries.

The ministry on Friday began testing thousands of people in the capital and elsewhere as it sought to contain the new outbreak. It shut bars and nightclubs, extending those closures to street food stalls and karaoke lounges from midnight on Friday.

The Comey Rule, produced by US TV network Showtime and based on Comey's own book A Higher Loyalty, will air in November following the presidential elections- set to be a turbulent time in America whatever the outcome.

Brendan Gleeson's performance as Trump will certainly be a major talking point for the miniseries, with the actor already getting a mixture of raves and criticisms, with some loving his more subdued portrayal, whilst others have compared the voice to that particular of Christian Bale's Batman.

"Nobody gets treated as unfairly as I do", Brendan as Trump says to Jeff as Comey.

The impressive cast of the show also includes Jennifer Ehle as Patrice Comey, Holly Hunter as former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates and Kingsley Ben-Adir as Barack Obama.

But with Trump asking for loyalty, Comey seems convinced they're heading towards trouble.

Showtime has released the teaser trailer for The Comey Rule and announced that the two-night event series will debut on September 27 and 28.
