The ministry says most of the new cases are connected to an ongoing outbreak at a berry packing plant in the Fraser Valley.

"We can make this B.C. Day holiday weekend one where we find the right balance: having those important social connections with our friends and family, while taking precautions to protect ourselves and those around us", read the statement from Dix and Henry.

Numerous new cases have also involved younger people, in their 20s to 40s.

Dix and Henry urged residents to socialize safely this weekend, and directed people to Dr. Bonnie Henry's Good Times Guide on the government of British Columbia website.
