This decision was reportedly taken by Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, after a comprehensive meeting with company executives to decide the future of work at the search giant.

Google employees will not be returning to their offices until at least July 2021, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Alphabet Inc's Google will let employees work from home until July 2021, once again pushing back the re-opening of its offices as the coronavirus continues to rage in many parts of the US. More than 4.2 million COVID-19 cases have been reported in the country so far, with 146,900 deaths.

While Snap has extended its work from home timeline from September to January, Amazon's corporate employees might go on working from home throughout 2020.

The new work from home policy applies to the majority of Google's 200,000 employees and is not limited to only US-based employees in fact the employees throughout the globe.

Google was quick to close its offices in the USA and other parts of the world earlier this year when the virus struck.

Google who employ several thousand in the United Kingdom, have said their staff have been working remotely since the outbreak started in March.

In May, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg laid out a detailed remote-working plan to make half of his 50,000-strong workforce work from home by 2030. Many parents expect to have their children at home until the pandemic subsides, complicating efforts to return to the office.
