Ireland to play six internationals in Autumn window

Wales will face Scotland in the final round of the tournament

Wales will face Scotland in the final round of the tournament

In addition, Wales will face a match against Scotland.

The Stade de France in Paris is a proposed venue for the France match, but the fixture has not been confirmed officially by the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) or French Rugby Federation (FFR).

The weekend of 7 November will be a rest weekend for the players before the start of the new tournament which will see Japan and Fiji join the Six Nations teams.

The fixture will also depend on government travelling rules because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Council approved the release of players for the window between October 24 and the first weekend of December.

The rescheduling of the domestic, European and global calendars will accommodate the ability for the professional clubs to have access to their star southern hemisphere worldwide players for the completion of the postponed and rescheduled 2019/20 seasons at a time in which they would have ordinarily been on worldwide duty in August and September.

The decision by the World Rugby Council on Thursday to approve a temporary 2020 calendar following the coronavirus shutdown means that worldwide teams can play six autumn Tests instead of the normal three.

Due to the large number of new cases each day, the state is not necessarily reporting individual cases by age, gender or city. As a public service, Shaw Media will provide open access to information related to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) emergency.

The temporary global window will accommodate the completion of the 2020 men's and women's Six Nations Championships on 24 and 31 October, a rest weekend on 7 November and four consecutive rounds of worldwide matches.

The other outstanding tie - Ireland v Italy - will be played the week before.

The governing body has also approved a schedule of autumn internationals.

As Sportsmail has reported this week England are set to play the Barbarians, Italy, Fiji, Ireland, Wales and one other Test this autumn. All matches are likely to be held in New Zealand, according to tournament organisers, Sanzaar.

Wales are in line to visit to Ireland on the opening weekend before two "home" matches against Fiji and England on consecutive weekends on 21 and 28 November before the December finale.

Official confirmation for all these fixtures is expected shortly.
