In 2017, Princes William and Harry said they had commissioned a statue in honour of their mother, who died in a Paris auto crash more than 20 years ago, to be erected outside the older brother's official London home, Kensington Palace.
Prince William and Prince Harry have issued a new statement about plans for a statue to commemorate their mother, Princess Diana, breaking a lengthy public silence from the brothers since Harry moved to California with his wife Meghan Markle.
The statue is set to be installed on July 1, 2021.
The artwork was commissioned to mark the 20th anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales and to recognise her positive impact on the world.
Kensington Palace's White Garden was planted to memorialize Diana on the 20th anniversary of her death.

It is not yet known whether Prince Harry, who is now living in Santa Barbara, California, with his wife, Meghan Markle, will return to the United Kingdom for the unveiling of the statue.
"The Princes hope that the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on their mother's life and her legacy", the statement reads.
The two princes, who were just 15 and 13 when Diana was killed in a Paris auto crash on August 31, 1997, commissioned the statue of the woman who they said "touched so many lives" after the £3.6 million Diana Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park was beset with problems.
Relations between Prince William and Prince Harry are still tense after a rift that began before Meghan and Harry were married.
The Queen is said to be in favour of the new statue.
Harry and Meghan left their roles as senior members of the Royal Family earlier this year to move to the USA, where they planned to start their own careers and plant roots with their son, Archie.
